Update: Finally putting an end to all of the rumours circling the next Dragon Age game's full reveal, BioWare has come out and confirmed that the title will be shown off next week on the 11th June at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST, via the official Dragon Age YouTube channel. Oh, and the game's called Dragon Age: The Veilguard now, not Dreadwolf.

"To capture what this game is all about, we changed the name as the original title didn’t show just how strongly we feel about our new heroes, their stories and how you’ll need to bring them together to save all of Thedas," the developer explains.

This showing will feature over 15 minutes of gameplay footage from Veilguard's opening. As we keep saying, we just hope that it looks good — especially after all this time in limbo.

Original Story: We'll be brutally honest with you: we're pig sick of writing about Dragon Age ****ing Dreadwolf. This is a game that we've seen basically nothing of, yet we've spent the last five years — possibly more — covering it. Every rumour, every leak, every rubbish tease from BioWare. We're incredibly thankful, then, that the saga should finally come to an end this weekend, when Dreadwolf is officially revealed during Summer Game Fest.

Except it technically won't be. In what seems to be one last twist in this frustratingly tedious tale, the ever-reliable Jason Schreier says that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is no longer called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. We don't know what the new name is, and we don't know why BioWare's decided to change it — but don't be surprised to see a title drop for Dragon Age Something Else at Geoff's event.

Again though, we're just looking forward to writing about a game that we've actually seen in action. Now we just have to hope that it... y'know, looks good.

What would you call the new Dragon Age if not Dreadwolf? Let out a solitary howl in the comments section below.

About Robert Ramsey

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Now Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Full Gameplay Reveal Next Week (3)

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.

I had a great post ready to go about this being a 5v5 hero shooter now but it seemed too dystopian. Now I'm reading the update about how a bunch of heroes need to come together to save the world and now it seems too close for comfort.

This sent shivers down my spine. Dragon Age has been one of my favorite game worlds to get lost in ever since the PS3. I have full faith in Bioware to pull this off. I think it's going to blow us all away.

Dreadwolf sounded cool. Veilguard sounds awful. But anyway.
Will this be the first (really) good game in the (RPG) genre? Doubtful but who knows.

I love the Dragon age games, but its been so long now that i have no clue what the hell happened in the last game.

I was kind of hoping all the games would have been remastered before this new one was released.

I loved Inquisition despite its negative reception amongst players, so I’m looking forward to this reveal.

I'm super excited to see this next week and hope we get a release date.

I also hope that Bioware announces a Collection of the first 3 games so that people can play them all together before this final game. Inquisition is a must for Veilguard especially.

Dreadwolf was a better, more fluid subtitle. Veilguard wouldn't have been too bad. But "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" really doesn't flow.

Minor gripe aside though, it'll be good to finally see something. While the IGN interview makes it sound like it's going further past Inquisition into a Mass Effect-but-fantasy gameplay style, where I would've preferred a return to something closer to Origins, if the time they've spent on it has been well used hopefully we'll have something neat to look forward to.

Just, please, don't pad the game with as much timewasting open-ish-world padding as Inquisition, or fluff it entirely as with every Bioware project since.

Dreadwolf was a better name, some interesting details. Hope it goes well.

Then again Gods and Monsters. That naming aside. I mean so many things have Monster in it so I find that a bit hard to believe too.

Dragon Age it's in the gauge/time to engage.

@Oh_fiddlesticks Agreed. Mass Effect got the treatment. Got a friend who has been waiting for a remaster. Already binged the series and DLCs years ago and wants them so they don't have to keep the 360 around.

The old title was cooler but I just really hope this is the comeback bioware needs. Though I do think it would have made sense to remaster the previous titles first.

@Nem Wasn't Solas the Dreadwolf? Been a long time since I played Inquisition - then again it was close to launch for the PS4, I think, as it was on the PS3 too.

Personally, I think they could've called it "Dragon Age: Veilguard" (dropping the 'The') and it would sound better.

@sanderson72 Yes, though i don't even remember why. Something to do with the veil? I remember he turned villain, but that's about it. 😂
